wierd thought... have anyone ever noticed that all the screen capture programs are just screenshot based timers that output to AVI? i was thinking... it would be neat to be able to output to video. most every person that programs games has to make some kind of intro video/promo teaser... it would be a lot easier if there was some way to output to video, rather than going thru 3rd party snapshot programs that hog memory and none of them are freeware, although a 12 year old could program a screenshot program... anyhow just an idea... or just have a brutus ap that could do it. Avi's just are too out of date... seems there would be a more efficent way to take things by now...

AVI allows you to use the latest codecs for compression. One of the reasons it has stuck around is that it allows itself to be adapted to the latest technology.

As far as i know it's meta data is in the end of the file, so you cannot use it for streaming of any kind as the necessary data is what is received last. But it is a format that interleaves video and audio files compressed with any codec and that is what makes it "current".

If you want to capture realtime video of your game, I would use FRAPS.
Since Brutus only does 2D, I do not see any point in releasing a "video" of your game, usually that is only done for 3D games, and even then it is usually just to show off some special effects.
Since its 2D, if it were me, I would just take screenshots of the game and post them on the site, depending on your site, maybe compile some of the screen shots into an animated GIF.
I do not actively use Brutus, so take my advice accordingly ;D
