In some languages you can adjust the brightness of the graphics output.. that way you can do things like "fade to black" that would be kinda neat.

In the examples folder there is a folder called 'gamma' with an example.
from the manual for the graphics object:
"SetGamma value -- adjusts the brightness of the screen; default is 1; range is 0 to 255 (darkest to brightest) Note: only available in Full Screen mode."
It is also used in the spaceshooter example to fade-in the nebula background.
For windowed games there are some tricks that you can do. For example, you could load a graphic file that is just a solid color the same size as the window and adjust its alpha to fade-in or fade out. Similarly you could use a primitive box the same way. I do not recall right now but, perhaps robylu and u9 did some of this when they were working on some fades and wipes.
