This application has failed to start because DX8VB.DLL was not found.
is what happends when you try and run brutus in the released version of Vista. It got released the other week, and a buddy of mine has the pirated commercial version. You need to register that DLL for vista versions.
Not planning on getting it FOR A LONG TIME... but just something to keep in mind.
Might (should) be included in one of the micro updates... It is VERY buggy and VERY slow.

Thanks for that input. I have been hoping that someone with Vista would give Brutus2D a try.
I don't see any need to change from XP to Vista for myself. So I appreciate those that dare to download and try first releases of a new OS.
That dll is about 1.2 Meg in size. Copying it and registering it is trivial. I will have to verify that Microsoft allows redistribution of it.
Thanks again for the info.

My friend was using the final release(non beta) and about every 5 minutes kept thinking to himself, WHO WOULD BUY THIS? It sounds as buggy as windows 98.

I hate to sound like MicroSoft, but it could have been buggy because it was pirated. I have heard it's slow as well, regardless of being pirated.
Kudos for giving B2D a shot on Vista!

vista, has a new version of directX which would explain why this wouldnt work... i wonder if he would have ran the compatability wizard if it would have ran okay...
as far as it being buggy because of a pirate release... i would doubt it. these guys are really good at getting these...
a person (usually from the company) will give away serials in order to gain something they want... other serials.. chance to look cool... or access to pirated films.

Here's the problem. I'm sure the problem isn't just with getting a serial. I'm willing to bet that Vista has to communicate with Micro$oft every so often to make sure it's not pirated. This was the same with XP, unless you were lucky enough to get it with a kit computer. Some hacking had to be involved.

Nah it cant be that...I am on a pirated computer right now. I have 2 legal XP licences, but lost the serials so I paid the 2 bucks and got a pirated XP.
I doubt they would do that, too many comps dont have net.

Actually afaik Vista needs to check in ever so often with MS. If that is true, then internet is a requirement :S
