Hello, I was looking for small basic languages for a kind of roguelike game. Let's me say that Brutus2D is looks very promising, however it's still in development and the features that I required are absent for now. Here is my feature sugestions: - Map system is looking good but is a bit limited. I think a savemap is essential. Generate the map on-fly and save it's really needed because not everybody wants to depend from the Brutus map editor and have to do things from scratch (random maps/custom maps are typical in roguelikes and RPG) and change that data later. Also some map commands like the ones u9 said in "Create Maps from scratch" topic would be nice and help a lot in map management. - There isnt well documented how to set variables, arrays, data, etc . A small begginer tutorial in help system how about Brutus2D deal with that would be useful. - In the future GUI functions, menus and gadgets along would nice (without DLL wrapping). A form editor then would be superb. A last thing. It's a bit annoying and strange that in Brutus2D webpage (or in the demo) don't have a way of contact (a mail, contact form, comments). I had spent a long time to register only to sent this message! Well, that were my sugestions. Good luck in dev! It looks good!

Hi nuno, GDN has an excellent Brutus2D section with some tutorials on how to do things in Brutus2D. I think it is probably the most comprehensive site of Brutus2D-info and documentation available. Brutus2D uses VB-script or JScript, so here all rules apply. You can find a lot tutorials about VBscript on the internet, but i completely agree with you, the documentation is scarce. About the map-commands, i also think they are quite essential if one wants to use tilemaps and there have been hints made that some tilemap functions will be added in the next release v1.9. Anyways, Brutus2D is unbelievably cheap so I hope you join p.s. I actually don't know what a roguelike game is :$

Thankyou u9! I believe I was there sometime ago but after check Brutus2D I haven't remembered to check there for Brutus tutorials. Nevetherless it's a fault that docs don't explain well that. Jscript and Vscript docs are pointed more like a "extra" and didn't realized that was the "variable" core itself. About joining/buying it for now it's a bit soon to tell that because i have to do first serious tests in several languages. Only in a couple of months with more free time to decide it. A roguelike it's a kind of RPG where maps, monsters, treasure, items are random generated and using a lot of key commands. Have usually ASCII display. Most famous are Angband, Nethack, Adom... They are usually done in C++ but I hate it and I always loved Basic. In my case it will be tile graphical with windows gui/point and click. www.reloaded.org/screens.php?GameID=46 to see screenshots of more or less I want game be. I like friendly games so I decided that must have windows GUI easy interface. Also you can check an small (abandoned) demo in other language that are more or less the kind of test I will do in other coding languages. pwp.netcabo.pt/0249069801/test.zipI checked "map" forum topics and I agree with map "demands" of several people and I hope to see in next versions some developments on that...
