I thought I'd start this thread to discuss how successful people have been, getting Brutus2D to work on Ubuntu using Wine. After installing Wine, Brutus2D & the dx8vb.dll, I attempted to start Brutus but nothing appeared on the screen. I started Brutus2D from a terminal window to see what errors were occurring... Most of the errors were caused by ActiveX components not being found. So I installed the ' Windows Script Control'. After installation the Brutus2D IDE appeared on the screen but the programs wouldn't work as there were still some errors occuring. I reckon it should be possible to get the examples up & running, it's just going to take some time. If anyone has managed to get the examples working or figures out a solution please post it in this thread.

I know oddchild has tried for quite a while with about the same amount of success as you. He got the IDE up and running but the code would not run. Maybe if you two put your heads together you might be able

Here is what I can offer, might be of some help: That error message is found in a block of source code that runs your B2D code through the activeX script control. Since there is no text in the debug window at the bottom of the screen I can place the point of the error as occuring during B2D creating a new instance of the script control.
