hi all, how would you do a HP for a sprite? im talking graphicly, not with classes etc... Would you use a sprite? Or would you draw a rectangle so that way the unit can loose life, 1% at a time... Did that make sense? Again not talking about classes, graphicly...

I'm not sure if drawing rectangles is very fast, but that is one option. It really depends on the look you want and what suites the rest of the design. Often for those FPS (First person shooters) games there is a number from 0 to 100. The numbers can be a font or you could use sprites containing the numbers 0-9...
For my space shooter I will probably make a damage-gauge using a rectangle to keep it simple. Who knows...

so you will make red = close to dying etc? then just have the color change every 10 or every 30?

Ah, i see this question was for me oops... better late then never. Anyways, changing the color when you are close to dying sounds like a good idea actually. It should help the player make a quick read of his health status (i.e. critical/OK/superb health).
